De Kunstvlaai is the alternative Dutch art fair, founded as reaction
on the commercial art fairs. This year PLANETART <http://www.planetart.nl>,
organisation of the multimedia art, expands the Kunstvlaai into Second Life.

Art can be admired, only visible through Second Life, to use the possibilities of new worlds optimal and also to give international visitorsthe ability of visiting the Kunstvlaai as intense as possible in a digitalway. Besides this, the visitors of the Kunstvlaai are offered the possibilty of exploring Second Life, under the guidance of DutchX and Meta.Live.Nu, in the Flexbar at the Westergasfabriek terrain

The Flexbar is the place for interactive media art. In the main room the
installation Virtual Mash up is present. A collection of wide screen video
projections, computer networks and monitor installations with art mixed from
a range of virtual worlds as Second Life, Webkinz, Barbieworld,
Disneyfaries, MissBimbo, Wii interfaces, and several other games and
gamehacks. Contributions from i.e. Joane Leandre, Edo Paulus, Arahan
Claveau, Ichibot Nishi, Nebulosus Severine, Sandwoman Petion
and by students of the Rietveld art academy and
the VU University Amsterdam.

and itself, this came after we had started to explore SL and it seemed like the perfect opportunity to go ahead with the machinema cirriculum

Sonic Acts XII festival takes place between 21 - 24 February 2008 in Amsterdam. The twelfth edition of this festival is devoted to The Cinematic Experience and includes an international conference, a wide range of concerts and performances, an exhibition and a diverse programme of films. The 2008 edition promises a comprehensive overview of the cinematic experience. Recent technological developments in digitalisation, higher-definition imagary and sound, ever-faster communication networks and new types of portable video players make it necessary to re-address the question of what cinema actually is. Developments such as experiential spaces, immersion and sublimation in contemporary music and visual arts add to the urgency of this question.
