9-12 sept. GOGBOT 2010: Online 3D Festival as well

September 9 to 12th the arts, music and technology festival GOGBOT is not only happening at multiple locations in Enschede, but just as in recent years also on location in the virtual world Second Life.

Under the motto “The Singularity is Near …” both known artists such as Stelarc, as well as newcomers bring interactive 3D sculptures, machinima and live performances.

Parallel with the physical event in Enschede, the virtual GOGBOT 2010 opens thursday 23:00 CEST (=SL 1 pm PDT) with the announcement of the winners of the GOGBOT Singularity Art & Design Contest and with the opening of the exhibition in the KST (Kueper Singularity Tower). This will also be projected on 2 large video screens at Media Art Café Berlijn in Enschede. Also Stelarc‘s performance  in SL (live from Melbourne, Australia) at 23:50 CEST (=SL 1:50 pm PDT) is screened @ MACBerlijn.

Sunday, after closure of the physical festival locations, GOGBOT continues exclusively online from 19:00 CEST (=SL 10 am PDT): Live performance art by Stelarc and others.  Followed by the virtual GOGBOT Afterparty with DJ ‘s and musicians located in different countries is next. So get your SL avatar out of the closet or register a new avatar for free! This event will partly be broadcasted on DFM web radio.

De jongerenredactie van Imagine IC duikt dit keer in het leven op ‘online communities’. Veel mensen hebben een avatar/profiel op Hyves, Tagged, Myspace, SL of in een andere online community. De wereld leeft online en men kan zich anders presenteren dan men in werkelijkheid is.

Heb jij online een ideaal alter ego en ben je daar alles wat je wilt zijn? Zijn jouw virtuele vrienden in het echte leven ook je vrienden? Hoe ver ga jij online, geef jij je ook wel eens bloot?

Onder de naam Multimediatalk organiseren jongeren (15-25) elke maand debatten voor leeftijdsgenoten in de Randstad. Vorig jaar was de jongerenredactie o.a. te vinden in De Nieuwe Kerk en De Balie, ook dit jaar zijn ze op verschillende locaties te vinden, waaronder op 9 april 2009 opnieuw in De Balie.

Deze talkshow is een coproductie van Imagine IC, De Balie en Cool Mediators.

NL TV machinima premiere: ‘”Molotov Alva and The Search for the Creator”

Somehow historic: On november 7th 2008 a SL machinima movie premiered on national television in The Netherlands, after succes on the web.

In this movie director Douglas Gayeton explores the online life of Molotov Alva, a Californian man who disapeared without a trace from ‘real life’. Suddenly he appears in Second Life with a series of 10 video dispatches.

In this Second Life adventure Molotov Alva encounters everything from Furries, to Cyberpunks to Neo-Luddites to Gorean Sex Slaves, to the King of the Hobos: Orhalla Zander, who becomes Molotovs guide as he searches for the creator of their brave new world.

This movie has been the best viewed video on Youtube for a while and it is also the very first SL machinima in history acquired by a major American television broadcast network: HBO
