When Second Life founder and former Linden Lab CEO Philip Rosedale ( a.k.a. avatar Philip Linden) was in Amsterdam in september 2008, he gave a very inspiring lecture and intimate Q & A at the third EduverseSymposium at De Balie: ‘Your Virtual Future‘.

The newBERLIN Art Festival is on friday 15 februari 2008 and starts at 16:00 CET (= SL  7 am PST) at the newBERLIN sims in Second Life

Interactive-information-remix-live-performance-art with and around the NewBerlin  Fernsehturm. The audience is invited to fly around and hoover next to the television tower to be feedbacked and projected live on the tower textures.  The audience avatars are part of this information-art piece. The Fernsehturm will be a tower shaped television.

Virtual Worlds ’08 symposium [update]

 8 februari 2008 – F.E.M., Hogeschool Utrecht – 12:30-18:00

 Collectively we hope to sketch a clear picture of the bussiness and society opportunities of virtual worlds. Second Life is the example for the moment. From a perspective of economy, community and society a vision of the future is the ultimate goal of this convention.

Gezamenlijk hopen wij op 8 Februari 2008 een helder beeld te schetsen van de zakelijke en maatschappelijke mogelijkheden van virtuele werelden. Hierbij is Second Life exemplarisch. Vanuit maatschappelijke, zakelijke en sociale invalshoek is een toekomstvisie het ultieme doel van het symposium.

What was lacking this day. in our humble opinion, was a central panel debate, with a possibility of audience interaction.

So no consensus vision about the future of virtual worlds / metaverses was established. A missed chance unfortunately…

Expo: ‘DO NOT FEED’ also physically open again

 Today the VIDEO VORTEX.2 exhibition in the  Netherlands Media Art Institute  (N.I.M.K.) museum in Amsterdam reopens for the public again after the holidays closure. The show runs till february 3rd 2008.

So our information-art installation “DO NOT FEED (Meta.Live.Nu presents DFM RTV)” can be visited again physically: Tuesday to saturday 13:00 till 18:00 CET.
